Five Talks, One Purpose: Educating and Inspiring Through Augmented Reality
During the first half of 2025, at Press StARt Evolution, we had the privilege of delivering our first five talks on Augmented Reality (AR) in Uruguay. Through this blog, we’d like to share the purpose behind this initiative, the lessons and challenges we encountered, the passions we discovered along the way, and the next steps that excite us.
At the end of 2024, as we were defining our goals for the new year, we realized it was time to share what we know. We understood that a key part of our role as a tech company is to educate people about the tools we use and promote. Augmented Reality, which we’ve been developing for over seven years through our products and services, deserved to be told from our lived experience. That’s how our talk was born:
“How Augmented Reality Empowers Companies and Entrepreneurs”
Structured into five parts:
- A brief introduction to our company and AR experience
- Key benefits of the technology
- Global success stories and projects developed by Press StARt
- An interactive segment where attendees explore AR from their own devices
- A closing discussion and Q&A session
Educating to Inspire
Our main goal was to bring this technology closer to those not familiar with the tech world, especially since AR is often confused with Virtual Reality, two very different technologies in terms of usage, accessibility, and applications. We wanted to show that Augmented Reality is not a thing of the future, it’s a present-day tool already creating real value across industries.
Key Allies, Meaningful Experiences
This series of talks would not have been possible without the support of incredible partners like the Maldonado Business Chamber (CEM), the Catholic University of Uruguay (UCU Punta del Este and Montevideo campuses), the Sintonia PDE community, Counir, and the Embassy of Colombia in Uruguay. These scenarios allowed us to share knowledge with diverse and engaged audiences.
Overcoming Fear, Discovering Passion
As a team, taking this step has been an enriching challenge. We broke from our routines, stepped out of our comfort zones, and faced the stage. In doing so, we not only strengthened our public speaking skills, but also encouraged our technical team to create new interactive experiences for each session.
One of our biggest fears was, undoubtedly, speaking in public, especially as immigrants in Uruguay. Another common concern before each event was: how many people will show up? Over time, however, we learned that impact matters more than numbers. And the feedback we’ve received since our very first talk confirmed that we’re on the right track. Many participants thanked us for helping them understand, for the first time, what Augmented Reality really is and how it can transform their business.
Cultural Challenges and Constant Learning
One unexpected challenge has been adapting our language to the local context. Although we share the Spanish language and have been living in Uruguay for over five years (you can learn more about us in this Blog), there are notable differences between the way language is used in Colombia and Uruguay. Being aware of this has helped us improve our communication and connect better with our audiences.
What’s Next: New Countries, Same Values
These talks have not only brought us closer to new people but also helped us discover a new passion: communicating what we do with the same energy we use to build it. Thanks to this momentum, we’re excited to take our talks to Argentina and Colombia, while continuing to grow and share knowledge here in Uruguay
